Penhill Watermelon Dinner Plate Dahlia

The twelve-inch-wide, peachy-pink blooms of 'Pennhill Watermelon' Dahlia look a bit like ladies dancing around in tutus. The robust plants readily support the large blooms, though staking is suggested to keep the flowers upright, where they can be readily admired by human eyes. 'Pennhill Watermelon' is a true delight, and it will produce flowers from mid summer until frost if the spent flowers are trimmed off weekly.

Dahlias are perennial in zones 8-10, but in cooler zones, tubers can be dug after frost comes, stored over winter, then re-planted the following spring. Grow Dahlias in a sunny spot, in average soil that drains well. Keep moisture consistent once it begins to grow and enjoy a non-stop color parade. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage more flowers and pinch off small side buds to encourage larger flowers if desired.
